Can You Touch Up Extension Bands Without Removing the Extensions?

A client’s extension attachments may become more noticeable between appointments, especially if their hair colour has changed or the original band colour no longer blends well. Does the entire set have to come out to address it?

Not always. A hair extension professional can use KOVA Extension Band Pigment to refresh a visible attachment during a maintenance appointment without removing the extensions.

What can be touched up?

KOVA is designed to colour extension attachments, including tape tabs, weft bands, lace, and thread. It adds buildable colour to the attachment itself, which regular hair colour may leave unchanged.

Your stylist should assess which attachments are accessible, their condition, and whether a touch-up makes sense for your installation.

How does a touch-up work?

A professional selects a shade to blend with the surrounding hair, applies a thin, even layer to the visible attachment, and allows approximately five seconds for it to dry. More thin layers can be added if needed.

The aim is to soften the contrast between the attachment and the finished hair colour. If the extensions need other maintenance, your stylist can address that as part of the appointment.

Can I touch up the bands myself?

KOVA is intended for professional use. It is made for extension attachments, not for direct application to hair, scalp, or skin. If your tabs or weft band are showing, ask your extension stylist whether an attachment colour touch-up is suitable for your set.
